Hair Extensions, Simply Explained

Clip-Ins, K-Tips, I-Tips, Tape-Ins Or Wefts?

The names sound complicated. The main difference is simply how the extra hair is attached to your own. Here’s what you need to know before booking.

Five Types, Different Attachments

All five add length or fullness. The illustration shows four salon-fitted methods; clip-ins use removable clips. The attachment is the main difference.

Clip-Ins: Removable Pieces

Extension pieces clip onto sections of your own hair. They are a temporary option for length or fullness, without bonded or taped attachment. Remove them before sleeping and follow the care instructions for your set.

Think of it as: extra hair you put in and take out. We help you choose the colour, quantity and placement, and confirm the set and fitting price.

K-Tips: Small Bonds

Small pieces of extension hair are joined to your own hair, one by one. Each has a keratin tip, which the stylist softens with heat to hold it in place.

Think of it as: lots of small joins spread through your hair.

I-Tips: Tiny Beads

Small pieces of extension hair are held in place with tiny beads. The stylist closes each bead around the extension and a small section of your own hair. No glue or heat is used to attach it.

Think of it as: individual pieces held by tiny beads.

Tape-Ins: Flat Strips

These come in flat strips with sticky tabs at the top. A thin section of your own hair sits between two tabs, with the rest of your hair covering them.

Think of it as: flat strips hidden underneath your hair.

Wefts: Wider Rows

A weft is a wider strip of hair joined together along the top. The stylist secures it in rows beneath your own hair. Infinity and Flexi are weft options we can show you.

Think of it as: adding a row of hair rather than individual pieces.

You do not need to memorise the names. Show us the look you want and we’ll explain which options suit your hair.

How Much Hair Will You Need?

Extensions are measured by weight, in grams. More grams means more hair.

For a fuller look, 100–200g is a starting guide. Some people need less; others need a different amount. It depends on your own hair and the result you want.

Tell Us What You Want To Change

  • More fullness: keep a similar length, but make the ends look thicker.
  • More length: add enough hair for the longer ends to blend with your haircut.
  • Both: plan the length and fullness together.

We check your hair before recommending an amount, so it is not carrying more weight than it should.

What Will It Cost?

At BellaPharma, human hair extensions cost from AED 599 per 50g for the hair.

Installation is charged separately; see FAQs for the installation rate. Extension removal is quoted during consultation. Prices exclude 5% VAT. Your total depends on how much hair you need and how it will be fitted. Confirm any maintenance or refitting charge during consultation.

Three Questions Before Booking

  1. What is the full price, including fitting?
  2. When will I need to come back for upkeep?
  3. What will that next appointment cost?

Looking After Your Extensions

We’ll show you how to wash, brush and style the type you choose. The basics are:

  • Brush gently and avoid tugging where the extensions join your hair.
  • Use the products recommended for your extensions.
  • Return for the agreed upkeep appointments as your hair grows.
  • Have bonded, taped, beaded or fitted weft extensions removed professionally. For clip-ins, open each clip gently and remove the pieces before sleeping; never pull them out.

Tell us if you often swim, go to the gym or wear your hair up. It helps us recommend a method and routine that fit your day.

A Few Common Questions

Which Type Of Hair Extensions Is Best?

There is no single best type. It depends on how thick your own hair is, the look you want and how much upkeep suits you. You do not need to choose before visiting; we can show you the options.

Will People See The Extensions?

We match the colour and place the extensions beneath your own hair to help hide them. Very fine hair or certain tied-up styles can make the joins easier to see, so tell us how you usually wear your hair.

How Long Do Hair Extensions Last?

The hair itself may last longer than one fitting. As your own hair grows, the extensions may need to be moved up, refitted or replaced. The timing depends on the type and how you care for them; we explain this before fitting.

Can Hair Extensions Damage My Hair?

They can if they are too heavy, too tight or not looked after properly. Tell us about thinning or breakage before booking. If extensions hurt or pull, contact the salon rather than waiting for your next appointment.

Can I Use Straighteners Or Curlers?

Ask for the care instructions for your extensions. Keep hot tools away from the points where they join your hair, and check with us before colouring or bleaching them.
